It’s spring break season!

Get off the beaten path on your spring break getaway with White Space’s spring break guide, to explore some of our favorite cities, and some properties we’ve worked with, that are sure to make your springtime vacation the best one yet.

Reno, NV

The Peppermill Reno

Reno happens to be the home base for our US office, but we also recently worked with The Peppermill Reno, one of the city’s finest casino hotels, to renovate their entire guestrooms.

Despite being a small city (with a population just shy of 250,000, Reno is widely known by its nickname, the Biggest Little City), Reno draws more than 5 million visitors every year. Once you visit, you’re sure to see why!

From the vibrant city to stunning natural escapes, Reno has no shortage of things to do! A few of our recommendations include:

  • Skiing:

There are several world-class ski resorts within an hour’s drive of Reno, including Palisades Tahoe, Heavenly, NorthStar California, Mt. Rose, and more! If you need equipment, you can always rent on the hill, or from a local shop in Reno such as BlueZone Sports.

  • Hiking:
With mountains, deserts, lakes, and forests surrounding the town, there’s no shortage of beautiful natural areas to explore! Platforms such as AllTrails and Hiking Project have databases of hikes in the area, so you can search and find the right one for you and your traveling companions.
  • Shopping:
If you’re more of an indoor cat, don’t worry – there’s plenty to explore in the city itself! The Village at Rancharrah is a newly developed shopping center on the south side of town, and is home to a variety of shops, bars, and restaurants. Be sure to grab a bite at Perenn Bakery, or stop by Grafted Whiskey and Wine for happy hour.

Denver, CO

Clayton Members Club & Hotel

If you ask us, a perfect spring break includes lots of lounging by the pool. And lucky for you, past White Space client Clayton Members Club & Hotel has a pretty great one! Their heated pool is open all year long, and sits on a rooftop with great views of Denver’s Cherry Creek neighborhood.

In addition to managing the production of their pool lounge beds, we also helped create some tables in their Mediterranean-inspired restaurant.

Things to do in Denver include:

  • Skiing:
Much like Reno, Denver is in close proximity to several world-class ski resorts, including Vail, Breckenridge, and Winter Park. If you do decide to ski, consider staying overnight on the slopes, or be prepared to contend with several hours of traffic on I-70!
  • Art:
Denver’s strong art scene has been booming over the past several years. Immersive art experience Meow Wolf opened its doors in Denver in 2021, and has received great response from the Denver community. Denver’s RiNo Arts District is also home to a variety of street art and murals, and the Denver Art Museum downtown has a variety of permanent collections and visiting exhibits.
  • Beer:
Denver is known for its craft beer scene, with 150+ breweries in the metro area. Denver publication Westword has a list of them all!

Honolulu, HI

Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Resort

There’s no vacay like a beach vacay! We worked with Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Resort in Honolulu to update bathroom vanities and tables throughout this beachside property.

Things to do in Honolulu include:

  • Beaching:
No trip to Hawaii is complete without some solid time relaxing on the beach! Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach is just off Fort DeRussy Beach, but there are several other great beaches that make up the 2-mile stretch of coastline known as Waikiki Beach.
  • Surfing:
Surfing is a classic Hawaiian pastime, and a great way to experience the natural beauty of the coast! Culture Guide has a great list of some of the best surfing spots near Honolulu, and several organizations that offer lessons and rentals.
  • Honolulu Botanical Gardens:
This network of gardens throughout the city of Honolulu is a great way to explore both the area’s natural beauty, and the city of Honolulu itself!

Tucson, AZ

Miraval Tucson

We helped Miraval Tucson update their kitchen and bathroom vanities recently, and they’re ready to share their beautiful space with travelers from all over the world! This resort and spa is a modern-day oasis in the Arizona desert, and is the perfect home base for your Arizona adventures.

Things to do in Tucson include:

  • Golf:
The Tucson region is home to more than 40 courses, and draws golfers from amateur and professional levels alike. Check out Visit Tucson’s golf guide for a list of courses and some recommendations!
  • Saguaro National Park:
Tucson is the gateway to Saguaro National Park, home to the nation’s largest cacti, as well as a variety of other desert wildlife and scenery. Visit the National Park Service website for more information about visiting the park, and park activities such as hiking, camping, and scenic drives!

San Francisco, CA

https://www.hotelstratford.com/

San Francisco is known for its natural beauty, dense culture, foggy weather, and hilly streets that can be traveled by cable car. The Hotel Stratford, near Union Square in downtown San Fran, is the perfect jumping off point to explore the city by the bay! We worked with them to update some case goods and light fixtures throughout the property, helping it become the trendy, elegant yet casual property it is today.

Things to do in San Francisco include:

  • Biking the Golden Gate Bridge:
Although the city is infamous for hilly streets, exploring by bike can be a great way to get around! Biking is also a good way to experience the famous Golden Gate Bridge – biking across the bridge avoids the tolls and traffic experienced by drivers, and provides an extended view of the San Francisco Bay. You can rent bikes at several locations around town, and either bike back across the bridge, or ride all the way to Sausalito on the north side of the Marin Headlands, and catch the ferry back to Fisherman’s Wharf.
  • Ride the ferry:
If biking isn’t for you, riding the ferry can still be an exciting and affordable way to explore the San Francisco Bay and surrounding communities, including Angel Island, Sausalito, and Vallejo. Fares start at $4.50 per ride.
  • Ride the cable car:
The cable car, invented in San Francisco nearly 150 years ago, is a classic way to get around town! Grab a ticket and check out the map and schedule on the SFMTA website. You may also want to pay a visit to the Cable Car Museum to learn more about this historic mode of transportation!
